England U21s 5-1 Austria U21 European Championships 2020 Stadium MK Thursday 15 th October 2019 Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, who is on loan at Leeds United, claimed tonight’s match ball as England U21s smashed Austria 5-1 to go top of the qualification group. England started positively, with Burnley winger Dwight McNeil winning an early corner for the Young Lions, which ultimately ended in nothing. England continued to threaten the Austrian defence, as Nketiah chips the ball into an open net, only for it to be disallowed for a clear offside. Dwight McNeil, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Phil Foden combined for another early chance, but the Man City midfielder drove the ball wide of Fabain Ehmann’s net. Nketiah was caught offside again, this time chipping his shot wide, but England fans were hopeful that their attacking threat would eventually amount to something. Czech Republic 2-1 England Czech Republic 2-1 England   Eden Arena Prague Friday 11th October 2019 Poor in attack, and sloppy in defence. A less than mediocre England team fall to their first defeat in a tournament qualifier for the first time in 10 years.    England lined up with an experienced side, one of which should be capable of winning, whilst also handing a full debut to Chelsea star Mason Mount.    Credit Sky Sports   England started brightly, Raheem Sterling’s tricky run and subsequent chop back earnt a penalty, which Harry Kane scored to level with Frank Lampard’s 9 converted penalties for the Three Lions. England fans were rampant and could have been forgiven for expecting a comfortable victory, but that wasn’t how the story panned out.    The hosts replied almost immediately, Jakub Brabec poked home, as England yet again show defensive fragilities.
