England vs Croatia Review

England 1-2 Croatia (After Extra Time)

Its disappointment again for England as they crash out of another major tournament without success. The Three Lions fell at the Semi- Final hurdle to dark horses Croatia.

Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier got England off to the perfect start executing an excellent freekick that nestled in the back of the net and past Daniel Subasic. The high intensity game worked well for England in the first half, but failed to score a second goal which is what was certainly needed.

The intense pressing game tired out the English players by half time and they struggled to find their feet in the second half, and the Croatians exploited the tiredness and levelled the score in the 68th minute through Ivan Perisic.

Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic scored the winning goal in the 109th minute of the semi-final, slotting in from Ivan Perisic's flick-on into the area after England defenders switched off.

England couldn't recover in the remaining 21 minutes and were therefore knocked out of the competition.

This was certainly England's worst performance in the competition and there were many standout poor performers. Jesse Lingard, Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford were certainly some of Englands weak links.

Jordan Pickford, Harry Maguire and Kieran Trippier again impressed for England who face Belgium in the third place playoff on Saturday
