NORTH LONDON DERBY - Arsenal vs Spurs Preview

The first North London Derby takes place at the Emirates today, and for the first time in a while Arsenal go into the fixture as favourites before kick off.

Both teams come into this fixture needing to recover from defeats last week. Having won their opening two games, Arsenal travelled to Anfield on matchweek 3 to play Liverpool, a match in which the Gunners lost 3-1. Spurs' suffered a shock defeat to struggling Newcastle last weekend, and following a win and a draw in their opening two games sit on 4 points.

Spurs didn't beat Arsenal last season, suffering a 4-2 hammering at the Emirates, and sneaking a draw at Wembley in March, after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed a last minute penalty.

Today's game could prove to be a measure of both team's seasons. Victory for Arsenal could prove massive, in a season where both Chelsea and Manchester United are looking like they will struggle, and the Gunners are certainly optimistic of a top 4 finish.  A win against their most bitter rivals would propel Arsenal with huge confidence going into the international break.

Five of the last 14 goals scored in Premier League matches between these teams have been penalties. In total, 18 spot-kicks have been scored in their league meetings, the joint-most of any fixture.

Tottenham's Harry Kane is one goal away from becoming the joint-highest goalscorer in north London derbies in all competitions, joining Emmanuel Adebayor and Bobby Smith on 10 strikes.

Spurs have lost just two of their last 10 league matches against Arsenal (W3 D5), both of those defeats however, have come in their last two top-flight visits to Emirates Stadium.

Team prediction:

Score Prediction:
Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham
